For the bird lover, the Anglophile, the person who wants their jacket to start a conversation — and finish it.
This substantial, heavy De-Mim denim jacket was already a great piece — roomy, relaxed, the kind of jacket you live in. What's been added takes it somewhere genuinely extraordinary. A vintage "Birds in Britain" souvenir fabric panel — the kind you'd find as a tea towel or wall hanging from a British gift shop — is appliquéd across the entire back in a dramatic, irregular organic shape, edged all the way around in tiny red rick-rack. The illustration is a full tree scene: Swallow, Raven, Hedge Sparrow, Woodpecker, Bullfinch, Partridge, Starling, Jay, Magpie, Yellow Hammer, Blackbird, Thrush, Lapwing — every bird labeled, perched, and painted in full color against a blue sky. It's a natural history print and a statement jacket all at once.
The front left chest carries a separate piece from the same fabric collection: a plump red-breasted Robin on a teal background, edged in matching red rick-rack, sitting right above the chest pocket like a little mascot.
Red rick-rack traces the entire left front button placket from collar to hem, the front left chest pocket flap, and the cuffs — a thin crimson thread of detail that ties the whole British bird theme together beautifully. The hem has been deliberately deconstructed: raw and frayed, with generous side slits that give the jacket a relaxed, slightly oversized drop feel.
Details to love:
- Full "Birds in Britain" vintage souvenir fabric panel on back — 13 labeled birds in a tree scene
- Red rick-rack edging around the entire back panel appliqué
- Robin red-breast fabric appliqué on front left chest — red rick-rack edged
- Red rick-rack trim along left front button placket, left pocket flap, and both cuffs
- Deconstructed raw frayed hem with generous side slits
- Heavy medium-wash De-Mim denim — relaxed, roomy oversized fit
- Brass hardware throughout
Style it with: A simple white or red tee underneath, dark jeans, and Chelsea boots for a nod to the British theme. Or wear it open over a floral midi dress for a countryside-meets-city look. The back panel demands to be seen — wear your hair up.
