A New Adventure 1/20/23
Sherri Dishion
Twenty-six years ago our second daughter, Gabrielle, was born. Twenty-five years ago she came to live with us after her Haitian mother was killed. Her father, unable to feed an infant, made the agonizing decision to deliver her to an orphanage so she would have a chance at life. (I doubt he ever could have imagined how that decision would come full circle some twenty-five years later.) She spent the rest of her first year in a Haitian orphanage. (As a child of trauma & hunger, life gets front-loaded with extra challenges to learn to navigate and overcome.)
Just when we thought life had reached a more even keel after 25 wonderful, faith-challenging, tortuous, adventurous, learning-packed years, we were about to tumble into a whole new adventure.
